IEの対応の遅れは、尋常ではないです。

とくに、IE8以下では、当たり前の事が再現されずに
苦労するひとも多いようです。
【自分が困った事例】
●背景画像がレイヤー重ねできない。
（CSS 3より背景画像は、レイヤーにすることができます。）
●ロールオーバー効果で切り替わるボタンの半透明部分（ping)が、マウスオーバーで黒くなる。（例：ボタンのドロップシャドウなど／JSでの切り替えもCSSの半透明効果でも、発生）
●レイアウトがおかしくなる。（原因は、不要なタグがあったため）
日本では、IE8のシェアが高め（2013年9月現在13.5%）ですので、まだまだ対応が必要かもしれません。
